Mary Ann Winters, MPS
Senior Vice President
Mary Ann Winters has 35 years of successful fund raising management in the non-profit sector. During her career she has directed capital and annual programs in support of building, equipment and services expansion, endowment, special projects and increased annual operating funds.
Ms. Winters joined Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc. in 1990 and, as Senior Vice President of the firm, has provided executive direction in multi-million dollar capital campaigns and management of comprehensive development programs for clients spanning the areas of hospitals, healthcare systems and health and wellness organizations, independent secondary and higher education, religious congregations and organizations, environmental agencies, and social service and professional development organizations. She has worked with individuals, foundations, corporations and government agencies and specializes in major donor identification, solicitation and volunteer training.
Prior to joining Ghiorsi & Sorrenti, Inc., Ms. Winters held chief development officer positions in independent higher education at Elizabeth Seton College - formerly part of Iona College in New Rochelle, New York - and in independent college preparatory education at School of the Holy Child, member of an international network of Holy Child Schools located in Rye, New York. She has also served as Chief Executive Officer and later as Trustee, of the Kingsbridge Heights Community Center, a social service organization located in Bronx, New York which provides recreational, educational and health services to an inter-generational community.
While with these institutions, Ms. Winters raised millions of dollars through capital and annual fund raising efforts, major prospect solicitations, gala events, grants management direct mail and planned giving programs.
Ms. Winters has served in various volunteer executive positions, including that of President of the Westchester Association of Development Officers, a professional development organization whose membership includes three hundred hospitals, cultural, educational, social service, and religious organizations and numerous corporate giving officers in Westchester County, New York and its environs. She has been a longstanding volunteer for the Sisters of Mercy of the Americas, Regional Community of Dallas, Pennsylvania, and has been honored to serve as a founding member and later chair of the Regional Community’s Development Advisory Committee.
Ms. Winters holds a BA in from the College of Mount Saint Vincent, Riverdale, New York, and an MPS in Fund Raising Management from the Graduate School of Management and Urban Professions of the New School for Social Research, New York, NY. She holds the distinction of being listed in Marquis Who's Who in America as well as six of Marquis' companion publications. Ms. Winters is a frequent lecturer on fund raising issues for Association of Fundraising Professionals (AFP), Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (AHP), New England Association of Healthcare Philanthropy (NEAHP), National Hospice and Palliative Care Organization (NHPCO), and a variety of other organizations throughout the country.
